RC Treatt’s existing server infrastructure had grown organically and contained many dissimilar, underutilised servers. RC Treatt’s IT manager identified that virtualisation would simplify the existing server infrastructure, provide greater resilience by using multiple ESX hosts running HA and Vmotion features and reduce costs for future server upgrades thus allowing a significant reduction in the total cost of ownership. It was also recognised that virtualisation would help reduce server recovery time in the event of disaster from 36 hours to minutes.
